Among the brightest chapters in medical history is that which has been chronicled over the past 15 years with regard to the fight to save middle-aged American men from the ravages of heart and blood vessel disease. There has been, since 1950, a 7 1/2 per cent decline in the cardiovascular death rate applying to American males aged 45 through 64.
