In short, what was needed :o meet the demand was au:horitative speakers who possessed depth and versatility :or audiences of different educational backgrounds. In addition, attractive audio-visual aids were deemed advisable to convey a better understanding of space projects. All of these had to be combined into a package which was mobile. The first Spacemobile began meeting commitments in the spring of 1961. Later, addition a1« Spacemobiles were placed into operation to meet the ever-increasing demand. At the present time, the NASA operates over 20 Spacemobiles in the United States.
