Defer Mrs. Latham; Although I am now “on the outside looking in”, I always enjoy reading Rapp Chats. Our new County Agent, Rap Owings, does a much better job than I ever did. (Point conceded only as author of this column).
His “attention getter” last week was his starting out as though he was an authority on Holstein cattle, quoting some facts about this breed only to emphasize the importance of certain characteristics being bred into
cattle
“Growth Rate” being the title of that record which he half way apologized for continuing to play.
Well, Rap isn’t from Dumas, but he is going to have to keep Ding-Donging on the subject for quite a while yet, and if he forgets to do so I hope I’ll remember to jack him up a bit.

What herds are leading at the Culpeper Bull Testing Station? Ned Johnson has the highest ranking Angus bull in Weight Per Day of Age and Ray Cannon has a bull that ranks third high being out-performed by a very narrow margin by a bull from the[ “Friendly Acres” herd. At Culpeper there are no less than 67 angus bulls from 28 different herds. Mull that one over a bit! Again at the Dublin Testing Station Rappahannock herds are proving their superiority! s,s%re Cannoybutts rank V 2mT in Weighr^if Day of "Age among the Angus while Allen Stokes has the 3rd ranking Charolais. What’s more all of the above bulls graded “Choice” or higher! Carry on is all I can say to these cattlemen, and may your success continue not only for your well being individually but for the reputation you are building for your county. Such thrills the bone marrow of an ex County Agent just the same as it did when he was on the “inside.

Marriage Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Pullen of Culpeper announce the marriage of their daughter, Laura, to Charles W. Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jenkins of Washington, Va. The wedding took place February 27, 1970 in Maryland. The couple will make their home in Culpeper for the present.
