Geoffrey A. Laing
Geoffrey A. Laing died February 25, 1970 at hie home In Miami, Fla. after a lengthy illneas. He was bom May 7, 1913 and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Laing of Amiasville. He and his family had resided for the past 22 years in Miami after leaving Rappahannock County.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Laing; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Ann Laing and Miss Laura Laing, all of Miami; two brothers, Douglas G. Laing of Amissville and Washington, D. C. and William A. Laing, Jr. of Warrenton.
A funeral service was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Miami and interment was in
[ Memorial Cemetery there.
O. W. Smoot
A funeral service for William Owen Smoot, 67, of Woodville, was held Friday, February 27 at Geest Funeral Chapel, Culpeper, conducted by the Rev. William A. Harrison. Interment was in HHIcrest Memorial Garden, Jeffersonton. Mr. Smoot died February 25, 1970 at his home. A native of Rappahannock County he was a son of the late Robert and Lizzie Smoot. Survivors include his wife Mrs.; Lillie Smoot; three sons, Paul and James Smoot of Winchester and Joseph Lewis Smoot of Woodville; two daughters, Mrs. Lela Elizabeth Jenkins of Woodville and Mrs. Strawberry Frances Wheeling of Winchester; one brother, Lemuel Smoot of Rixeyville and a sister Mrs. Nancy Brown of Mt. Jackson. Pallbearers were Edward Mac Nicholson, Silas Foster, A. H. Buckner, Jr., John K. Burke, Jr., C. H. Deal and Harvey L. Gordon. Mrs. Dorm Anderson Mk. Dora Cockerill Anderson, 78, died February 27, 1970 in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal after a long period of declining health. She was a native of Marshall, but had been making her home with her daughter Mrs. Jackson Swain in Amissville for the past several years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cockerill of Marshall and the widow of Leon S. Anderson.
In addition to her daughter Mrs. Swain, survivors include four sons, James Shelton, Herbert Clay and ‘Thomas'Claris Anderson, aU of Pttheftiffi^'DhioarflF Richard Anderson of Front Royal; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie McDonald and Mis. Ruth Talbot, both of Hyattsville, Md.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sunday from Royston Funeral Home, Marshall and interment was in Marshall Cemetery.
