Keep it clean
IT WASN’T SO LONG ago — just as Spring was peeking through, as a matter of fact — that Rappahannock was the scene of concentrated cleanup campaigns.
Ponderous collections of discarded beer cans and other flotsam of the motor age were picked up and carted away. Youth organizations volunteered their help, civic leaders pitched in to do their bit, and everybody, it seemed, either issued or listened to exhortations to Keep Rappahannock and America Clean.
Now what do we have?
Remember, it’s only been a few months since all of that clean-up energy was expended.
We have trash-lined highways and exairtples of violations of no-dumping laws all over the county, that’s what we have.
