It seems that at crucial times most of us want some sort of affiliation with a church; some at christening, at weddings and especially to be buried from a church. If not from the church building, by the official representative.
Have you ever heard of a ‘heavy church’? Guess it means that the preacher never deviates from the Holy Writ, that his message is a monotonous monologue of the same old story. Is there a better story? I’ll admit that some preachers do not present their message in an interesting manner and with as much power. Well, there is power in gasoline but I keep going back to the same old pump when I need more. I hope we never run out of either kind of power.
And did you see the TV program about The Devil’s Triangle? There is some kind of power there, as well as other freaks of nature around the world. Could one say that those things are controlled by an evil entity? Some think so.
And what about the universe folding back into the original mass? There is a theory that in the beginning there was an explosion from some great mass of matter, that the universe was expanding. This was supposed to have happened about six billion years ago. Now, someone has advanced the theory that the original BANG has passed its potential and all matter is returning to its former mass.
I like to think that God is still in His heaven, that all is right with the world. But I think His presence can be felt more in the church than elsewhere. Maybe the church is too heavy at times, but it is a place where loads can be lightened. “Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.”
