PROPOSED ORDINANCE
THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, VIRGINIA, PROPOSED ORDINANCE RECOGNIAING CERTAIN FIRE COMPANIES TO BE AN INTEGRAL ' PART OF THE OFFICIAL SAFETY PROGRAM OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, VIRGINIA.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County as follows:
WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly did adopt legislation known as the “Line of Duty Act” (Title 15.1, Chap. 3, Article 1.1., of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended) whereby certain benefits are to be paid to certain individuals whose death occurs as the direct or proximate result of the performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County, Virginia, that certain fire companies and organizations be recognized as being an integral part of the official safety program of this county in order that such benefits as provided by the General Assembly might be available to the members of the members thereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County, Virginia, that the active members of the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Ind., Washington Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., Washington Volunteer Rescue Squad and Rappahannock Volunteer Firemen and Rescue Squad Association, Inc., and members of organizations thereof, are hereby recognized as an integral part of the Official Safety Program of this county, and are entitled to all the privileges and benefits of Title 15.1, Chap. 3, Article 1.1 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
