IN TRUTH the Library is a very lean cat. Here is a tick-off of the hard financial facts.
1. The Library has received ZERO from the Helen Fuller Estate auction and expects to get no moneys that can be used for operating the library.
2. Last year the Library’s 4th of July Flea Market cleared $5000. Every cent of this money has already been put into the library building in capital improvements of lighting, heating and shelving. This investment was absolutely necessary because it <was found people won’t work or read in an interior if they have to wear goolashes and fur-lined eyeglasses in order to Stay warm. No way! And three or four baseboard outlets just couldn’t give adequate lighting for day and nighttime library usage.
3. The Marsh Foundation has cut its usual contribution from $1000 to $500 and the Armstrong Foundation, which used to give
