NICKLIN said it would be “hard to justify a fulltime probation officer in Rappahannock,” and that because of this “it would be better to have Rappahannock and Fauquier merge and provide services that way.”
He said he had talked to Tyler Wilson, and he agreed. 4 4 We are not standing over the localities with a big hammer,” Nicklin said “Our job is to assist... and our delinquent problem is not levelling off at this point.”
Added the state official: “We’d like to do more in the localities, than see a child sent to a state institution, where the value of work is kinda questionable.”
IN REPLY to a question from Chairman James Austin, Nicklin said he thought a “better department could be formed incorporating all of the jurisdictions” (Fauquier, Rappahannock and Loudoun), but that since Fauquier and Loudoun had departments of their own, the state could not dictate which course to follow.
Supervisor Jason Paige wondered if Tyler Wilson would suffer any loss in salary. None at all, and probably a slight increase, Nicklin said. He took the opportunity to commend
