VEPCO is maintaining at powerline hearings going on in Richmond that its engineers used “extreme care” in choosing proposed new high voltage powerline corridors.
Donald N. Rice, Vepco’s chief electrical engineer, told the State Corporation Commission this week that the firm considered and rejected several alternative routes before settling on the routes “it wants approved.
Approval has been held up for going on three years by fierce citizen and local governmental resistance, especially in Rappahannock and Fauquier Counties.
Vepco rejected many alternative routes before settling on the route it wants from Mt. Storm, W. Va., to Morrisville in Fauquier County, Rice said.
