Although I have no children in the Rappahannock schools, I find that I must concur with Mr. Lyne on the need for an athletic field for track as well as for other team sports.

From my own experience, I can vouch for the need of a good track and field to produce a topnotch track team. During my senior year in high school, our track was taken from us and in two years’ time the excellent rating of our track teams hit the skids.

Rappahannock has been great in cross-country, but only fair in the dashes and middle distances because of the lack of proper equipment with which to work.

A track will give the team a better spirit, better teamwork and a sense of belonging. A team gains the edge on their home field, and you run better on other tracks when you have practiced on one.
