“That’s what I mean,” said Luke. “We need something to fit our needs, not something that was done somewhere else. Maybe we don’t need any study at all.”
“Maybe it could be the purpose of the committee to decide what kind of study we need,” suggested John Jones, hopefully. Warren added some helpful words along these lines.
“Could Mr. Jones do the study?” asked John B. Adams.
LUKE THOUGHT that might be possible. “The statistics are available in court houses, some place. We could get a handle on this problem ourselves without a wholesale expenditure of funds. As it is now, we’ve just been presented with a proposal for a $20,000 study. I want to walk up to this problem a little, first. Give me some talking points. Ihaven’theard any yet.”
So Luke made a motion that the study committee being formed only consider the “concept of a “feasibility study.” His motion carried unanimously.
