RLEP meeting
SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT for every resident of the county is what the program sponsors are planning for the fourth annual membership meeting of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, September 6,in the county court house in Washington, Va.
Gerald McCarthy, chairman of the Virginia Council on the Environment, will discuss general environmental conditions throughout the Commonwealth, and a film, “The Raging James,” will depict the harmful effects of channelization. The featured person of the film, N. Ancarrow, president of “Reclaim the James,” will be at the RLEP meeting for discussion and to answer questions.
There will also be an election of officers of the RLEP for the coming year. Stressing that “Environment is everybody’s business,” RLEP President Phil Irwin invites all county residents to attend Fridays’ meeting. “Persons wanting to learn more about, or do something about our environment are urged to attend, as are those wishing to join, or support, or learn more about the RLEP, or to have a hand in selecting the officers who will guide the league for the coming year.”D
