disaster, Whitehead told the Supervisors.
To become part of this warning system, Rappahannock’s Supervisors will have to buy the “Instaphone” radio system so th£ Sheriff’s Department can communicate with other sheriff’s Departments.
“This will be a back-up for their existing communications,” Whitehead said. “With this system there is no need to dial. You pick up an instrument that looks like a telephone and push a button.”
This “Insta-phone” system will cost Rappahannock County $450 a year. Last year the system would have cost the county $1,500, but since then the state of Virginia has allowed their SC A line to be used, and that cut down on the cost considerably, and the federal government has agreed to share some expenses.
