Jennings Hobson said the sheriff’s department makes about $20 worth of long distance calls each month to other sheriff’s department. Since this long distance telephone bill would be elminiated, since the sheriff’s deparmtnet could call colleagues in other counties over this warning system, the cost for the system is actually less than the $450 Whitehead had mentioned, Hobson said.
SUPERVISOR Edwin Eastham UI wanted to know what Sheriff WUliam A. Bun tin thought of the “Insta-phone.” Buntin said he’d reserve judgement on whether or not the county should join the system until he knows more about it. But he did wnat to know “what jurisdiction is covered” by the warning system.
