• Construction: Demand for housing and an increase in road, bridge and tunnel construction will add about 400,000 jobs in this sector.

• Manufacturing: Overall, employment will decline by 1 percent or 157,000 jobs. But employment in plastics and rubber products manufacturing and machinery manufacturing will grow, as will pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing. But job automation and international competition will adversely affect employment in many other manufacturing industries.

• Agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting: Employment is expected to fall 2 percent, largely due to technological gains.

• Mining: Employment is expected to decrease by some 60,000 jobs.
