The Rev. Leah DeLong - who somehow manages to pastor three United Methodist Churches in Sperryville and Flint Hill — said their members also collect canned goods and turkeys and give to families in the community. Each of the churches also adopts a family with several children and. “basically provide their entire Christmas,” she said.

New this year, and just established, is the Rappahannock Benevolent Fund, a cooperative effort among the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville. and Trinity Episcopal and Washington Baptist churches in Washington. The fund will provide for emergency needs, particularly this winter for fuel.
