So how did computer software specialist Ken and musician Andy end up in Sperryville running food service operations? Ken and Mary Thompson had purchased a home in Rappahannock in the 90s. Visits to them here, coupled with dissatisfaction with the time away from home from his wife and child, led Andy and Ken to consider the goal of opening a family business.
The two families bought the building complex in June 2000 and began renovations. After focusing on the restaurant for several years and then opening Rudy’s, the family has tried to anticipate what would be good both for the consumers and good for business. They have added a side selection of wine, more organic and natural foods, seafood, and artisan cheeses.
There is no doubt that Ken, Mary, Andy and Dana have added to the quality of life of the community and to the vitality of Main Street. Andy’s wife, Dana, is a teacher at the high school and they have two children, ages 12 and 7.
We are grateful to them for all that they have given to the community and wish them many years of health, happiness and successful business in Sperryville.
