The 1968-69 deer season opened Monday with the deer having the advantage of the elements. Even a night-long rain which continued into the day could not dampen the spirits of the hunters opening day fever. The deer, however, apparently were content to sit tight until the weather started to clear.
Opening day hunters are persistent, however, and before the day was done, many were successful. Robert Rutherford and Tony Moritz, both of Huntly, checked nice bucks. For Tbny it was his second buck in as many years.
In preparation for the 1970 White House Conference on Children and Youth, meetings are being held throughout the country. In Virginia, division meetings are being held and Rappahannock County is a part of District III, Region IV which will meet at Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg on Friday, November 22. Representatives from Rappahannock County High School are Carter Moffett, Janet Hackley, ferry Russell, Beth OTBannon accompanied by principal Dennis Wingfield and guidance counselor Richard Neff.

The board had the option of asking the state for either a one year or two year post-postponement. “I’d like to make it for the longest < period)- until 1986.” announced supervisor H. B, Wood. “We just got through with one and it will cost $60,000 to 70,000. I don't sea how it will benefit anyone to have another reassessment.'*
