Rebuilding Will Start Quickly, Owner Says S3 The Stokes Building, which burned here early Friday morn ing with complete loss of stock and fixtures of the Colonial Store on the first floor, will be rebuilt as quickly as possible. Owner Emanuel Weinberg said. General Superintendent J. Reid Mercer, of Colonial Stores. Inc., said Friday a decision will be leached within several days as to the chain store s future plans at Farmville. “We don't like to leave a town after we once open there, however." Mr. Mercer said by way of comment on this ques tion. The 4 a. m. blaze, discovered by Policemen Otto Overtoft and Walter Morton during an early morning che<?k, gutted the build ing. With the roof destroyed, the two floors charred and water logged. and the rear wall burned out, Mr. Weinberg estimated only 25 per cent of the structure salvageable—front and brick side walls.
