Scottsville Masons Install Officers Newly 'elected officers of Scottsville Lodge No 45. A.F. and A. M. were installed at the St. John’s Night meeting in the Masonic Hall here Saturday night. Dec. 27. The Joints River Chapter of the OES served dinner in the dining hall and the Rev Jack B. Taylor was the speaker of the evening. John W. Boggs was installed worshipful master with the fol lowing officers: T. H Gillis. sen ior warden: Donald Carroll, jun ior warden: C R Dorrier and C. A. Whitted. re-elected and install ed treasurer and secretary W. C. Duncan, senior deacon. George Dansey, junior deacon. Larkin Londeree has been wor scliipful master for the past year. Scottsville Firemen Sponsor Dinner Dance Annual fireman's dinner dance was given in the Scottsville's Fire man's Building. New Year's Eve R. L. King, secretaiy-treasurer. was master of cercmdhies. be cause H R. Nicholas, president, was sick. Three live ducks were given as prizes to John Hmnner, Miss Daisy Seay.’ and Tom Coleman and the winners must keep them and bring back alive with all little ducklings at the New Year’s Eve Party, next December. A buffet supper was served at 11 p. m. dur ing intermission. Mr. King gave a brief history of the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a soft-spoken, mild mannered man. reserved and shy. but the few who knew him well and saw behind the shyness, knew him to be kindly and of a keenly appreciative nature. The service was held at the grave and at his own request, made long ago. he was buried by his mother.
