District Forester D. G. Wilfong, of Charlottesville, again has made the annual appeal to hunters and sportsmen in the county to use care and caution In preventing forest fires this fall.
According to the records kept by the Virginia Forest Service, the number of forest fires each fall in the county can be attributed largely to careless^ hunters. Ap- ' proximately 30% of the forest fires each fall are caused by hunters and each year the Virginia Forest Service makes an extensive drive to sportsmen’s clubs and other conservation agencies to reduce the number of forest fires caused by hunters.
