Mayoress Offers To Bake
President A Cherry Pie
President Truman wont have to worry about baking his own cherry pie -should he be unable to hurl a dime across the Rappahannock River.
The pretty lady Mayor of this Blue Ridge Mountain town offered today to bake the pie herself.
As yet, the President hasn’t ac- ' cepted the challenge of Mayoij C. M. Cowan, of Fredericksburg, who Thursday invited Mr. Truman to try his southpaw slants on the river across which, tradition say3, George Washington once tossed a silver dollar.
Cowan said he’d wager the President a cherry pie he couldn’t get s dime across to the other bank.
Should Mr. Truman lose, Mayor. Dorothy Davis, of Washington, said she’d handle the culinary chore. She telegraphed the President:
