Committeemen Set
Production and Administration community committeemen elections will be held in etch of the 6 designated communities in Rappahannock County on Friday, December i, 1951, according to H. S. Barksdale, Chairman of the PMA County Committee.
Each farmer who participates in any program administered by the PMA county committee, or who is eligable for a OC’C loan or who holds a Federal Crop Insurance policy may vote in his respective community election.
Voting in Rappahannock county will be by the ballot box. In each community farmers will vote fdr three regular community committeemen, two alternate committeemen, and a delegate and alternate delegate. The delegate from each community meets with otfter suen community delegates on the next day, December 8, to elect a county committee of tnree.
Both county and community committee will take office immediately after the election and hold office for a year. They will oe responsible iorthe administration of the Agricultural 'Conservation ‘Program, price support operations, marketing quotas, and in certain counties tney will assist the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation in writing all-risk crop insurance.
Chairman Barksdale noted that the elections take on special signifiance this year when all PMA programs will be geared with defense production. PMA county committeemen are automatically members of the County Agricultural Mobilization Committee, whose chairman is the PMA county chairman.
