The 4-H County Council decided to serve a turkey dinner March 17 as a means of making money. Part of the money will be used in sending a boy, girl and leader as County delegates to 4*H short course at Blacksburg in June.
Chair reseating meeting was held_Monday night at Mrs. Barbara Gentry's. This was a special meeting for those interesting in bottoming chairs. Two ways of putting in fiber chair seats and a woven cane seat were demonstrated. Those reseating chairs included Mrs. P. D. Dennis, Mrs. Frank Cary, Miss Ruth Stevens, Mrs. Barbara Gentry, Lelia Gentry and Ginger Russell. 4 A beginning sewing class was organized Tuesday for anyone desiring to learn to sew. This meeting included, forecast of spring styles and selecting of patterns, t The ladies learned to backtack, make knot on machine and use the seam gauge.
At the next meeting Thursday, February 7 at 1 p.m. The laying Of pattern on the material and cutting will be demonstrated. Singer Sewing Machine Co. of Culpeper twill provide sufficient machines for every one in the class.
A day of upholstering furniture was held at the home of Mrs. R. L. Hudson, Thursday, January SI* This Vitas second day of upholstering clinic and the chairs in which; the springs were tied at the meeting on January 24 were completed. The ladies repadded, blocked and fitted new upholstery to their chairs. I know both Mrs. R. L. Hudson of Slate Mills, Mrs. C. R. Hite of F. T. Valley and Mrs. ‘Lillie Barber of Woodville will be glad to show anyone their lovely chairs.
