Appeal for Special Court
The Board of Supervisors, in a - special meeting Tusday, Februray 26, voted to withdraw the appeal to a Special Court regarding the setting of the salary and expenses of the office of Commissioner of Revenue. The appeal was to have been against the ' decision of the Compensation Board in Richmond.
The motion of withdrawal was made by J. P. Cook and seconded' by Edward M. Estes- A show of hand vote was recorded as: for— E- M- Estes, J. P. Cook, A, HT < Buckner, H. B. Wood, and W- C. Campbell: against—none. C. Latham was recorded as no voting.
The Clerk was instructed to notify the judges named for the Special Court of the withdrawal action voted by the Board of Supervisors. The Board voted the payment of the January salary and expenses for the office of the Commissioner of . Revenue^ * • •':* /
Mrs. Roberta K. Massie, commissioner of Revenue appeared before’ the hoard with estimates necessary for the proposed budget. Using the first returns filed on personal property taxes, about 200 of them, she had compiled comparative figures for the present one-fourth assess- * meni with the former two-thirds.
