Frank Compton
Frank Compton, 88, born, reared and spent most of his life in Rappahannock, died at his home in Smedley Hollow on February 22, after sereval years of declining health.
Mr. Compton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Dwyer Compton, two sons, Clarence of Culpeper and Ira Compton of Mt. Jackson, a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Woodward of Tuedo, Maryland, a brother, Sam Compton of Amissville, a sister, Mrs. Henry Jenkins of Milwood, and a number of neices and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church with his pastor, Rev. Thompson officiating. Interment was held in the Washington Masonic 'Cemetery.
' Active pallbearers were his grandsons, Robert Compton, Jack Compton, Glen Woodward. John Williams Paul Williams and Dudley Williams. His friends at the services acted as honorary pallbearers.
