, The new starting date for figwr’ ftig old-age arid survivors insurance benefit payments is import-, ant to everyone now employed or self-employed in work covered by social security. ’ * " - In explanation of this statement Miss Lois Cockey, field representative of the Alexandria social secur. ity office, points out that work ' after 1950 can be used alone for figuring the amount of the benefit payment. Everyone who has been in work covered by social security continuously since January 1, 1951, will be fully insured by the middle of the present year. If he creaches age 65 and decides to retire, he will be eligible for old-age benefit payments; if he should die after a year and a half of covered work after 1950, his survivors can get benefit payments. He and his family will have this insurance protection until July 1954. They will continue to have this protection if he stays in ‘covered work for at least one-half the time after 1950 and up to the tmie of retirement at age 65 or later, or up to the time of his death.
