Today I filed my income tax return.' In the spot reserved for social security (so-called) you will note that I advise you NONE is due. Moreover, I have closed my bank account and declared through my newspaper that my husband is in no way responsible for either the' Summit Sun or Mary D. Cain, his wife. This is to make sure that whatever recourse you take to force me to pay this outrageous demand will be brought to the attention of the public. In short, you must either confiscate my business or put me in prison. Frankly, I hope you will take the latter course, because "then rftr' people of' " America wiliT realize to what a pretty pass we have come in this country when one can be imprisoned or heavily fined for simply doing what has ever been considered the honorable, American way of living: taking care of one's own old age. — There are many reasons why I am refusing to pay this so-called tax which is supposed to buy me so-called old age insurance. Briefly, here are a few:
1. The social security program, added to the equally iniquitous and confiscatory income tax program, is the hub around Which the whole wheel of communism revolves in this country. I cannot bring myself to lend further sanction to it. I went along in the matter of paying it for employes because I had no wish to implicate them but if I ever hire another printer—(I—am- without one at the present), this is your official notification that I have no intention of paying it for him either.
