Conservation of Water

Recent inspection at the town reservoir and pump indicate the water supply available is very limited as the pump is now pumping considerable air and the water at the pump is cloudy. I urgently request that you use only the amout of water which is absolutely necessary and avoid washing cars, watering lawns, correct leaking spigots, in order to conserve our very limited town supply. ’ • • ’ Your full cooperation will be expected and appreciated.

15 Attend First Aid Class

With instructor Jack Griffin of the Culpeper Rescue Souad conducting the class, fifteen persons attended the first class of the first aid course conducted in the Court House in Washington, Monday evening at 7 p.m. Two chapters from the First Air Text Book were discussed and chapter three assigned for the Thursday evening meeting at the Municipal Building in Culpeper. Mr. Griffin stressed the definition of First Aid as given in the text: “First' aid is the immediate and temporary care given the victim of an accident or sudden illness until the services of ' a physician can be obtained.”

This class is open to the entire county. Plan to attend. Even if you can attend only one meeting, you may note in that session one detail . which will enable you to save a life. The bandages (and books if you do not wish to purchase one) will he provided by the Washington Fire Company. If you need transportation to the Thursday meetings at Culpeper call Washington 2851.

S/Sgt Jenkins In Idaho

S/Sgt. Ellis M. Jenkins, son of Mrs. Virginia C. Jenkins of Woodville, is now stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Sgt. Jenkins is assigned to the 9th Operations Squadron, 9th Bombardment Wing. His duties involve work in the communications unit. Prior to his assignment at the Idaho installation, Sgt. Jenkins was in the overseas theater of operations. He first entered the service in August of 1944. Married, his wife is the former Madeline Hatfield. The Jenkinses have three children. The base where Sgt. Jenkins is now stationed is the home of the 9th Bombardment Wing (M) of the Strategic Air Command. The 9th * Wing took command of the Idaho air base in May of this yearg j
