On a more serious side we feel that everyone in the community should he concerned over the conduct at the dances held at the high school. Only last week at a dance* sponsored by the girls' varsity club, the dance had to be stopped because of a crowd of hoodlums fighting and brawling.
I have heard the remark quite often that our young people go out of the county to find recre_ation, and rightly they should if conduct like the above mentioned* is permitted at their dances and ^entertainments.
The young people of our community are entitled to some kind _of guarantee that their planned entertainments will not be broken up by a bunch of thugs and ruffians that do not know how to behave in polite society. „ If the school auditorium is going to be a place of fisticuffs then it should be squared off and ropes stretched around it.
With all sincerity we hope that we will be able to give a better report after the next gathering of our young people in the county,

Let’s hope it will not be necessary for Thornton's Gap Primitive Baptist Church to pay the reward .they have offered for information on anyone destroying property at the church. We feel sure that the ones who broke locks and turned over buildings on the property are so filled with remorse that they are ashamed to even go near the place again. And no community could have more than one person that, would do. so contemptible a deed. •
