he tentative outline of the class course is as follows: Orientation and instruction on shop equipment, Operating powered shop and farm machinery, Sharpening farm hand equipment, Learning to use the Arch Welder, Constructing metal projects useful to the home farm, Caring for and lubricating farm machinery, preparing the surface and painting farm machinery, working with cold metal, figuring bills of materials, caring for the farm tractor, establishing a home farm shop, and determining the equipment for a home farm shop. Some of the jobs listed above may not be taught. Sometime a change is essential in order to meet the prevailing situation.
The slack season is the most opportune time for the farmer to repair that corn planter that caused so much trouble last year. Knowing that, this class has been arranged to meet your convenience, and it is hoped that you will cooperate by attending each class meeting. The Food Production and Conservation Class of Madison County, better known as the Progressive Farmers Club, meets the first Thursday after each first Sunday, and additional meetings are arranged when deemed necessary. The class is held at the Strother Elementary School in A(hsah. One of the objectives for the current year is to sponsor at least one program at each of the four churches in that vicinity. The first program will be held at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in the near future costarring Sylvia Arrington and Catherine Brown in a novehy production entitled “How The Story Grew.”
