Flower Show Judges
Course number £lVE of the required study by the,National Council of Garden Clubs for those seeking to be accredited flower show judges, will be taught in the winter session t the Hotel John Marshall, February 15, 17, 1954, in Richmond. Accredited judges may take this course as a refresher.
There will be two full days of lectures and study, with examinations on the third day. Subjects will be "Landscape Design," “Horticulture,” "Flower Arrangements.” In Horticulture, standards for judging peonies, chrysanthemums and roses; methods of gathering, preserving and transporting plant materials for exhibition, will be studied. In Flower Arrangement, period arrangements in pairs, for tables, and corsages, will be studied; there will’ also be a lecture on "Color.” • Registration fee and reservations are now being received by the State Chairman, Mrs. Thomas A, Ratcliffe of Richmond. Seats in the study hall will Be reserved in the order of receipt of the registeration fee.Instructors
for the school are Mr. A. S. Beecher, Association Prof, of Horticulture at VPI teaching the Landscape lessons; Dr. C. H. Connor, of the Dept, of Hort., Rutgers 'University, teching the Hort. subjects ; and Mrs. Roy Lincoln of Amherst, N. J., teaching the Arrangement series.
