Panther Girls Tie;
Boys Lose To Stanley
The first basketball game of the, season for the "Panthers'* was ~■ started off with Jean Brown making the first goal. The game was played with Stanley. It was a very exciting game. The score tied 38 to 38. Jean Brown made 25 points, Faye Black,4, Margraet Devers. 4, and Virgie Atkina, 2.
The guards, Bessie Dodson, Joyce Clark,. Betty Johnson and Estelle Jenkins, also played good ball.
The boys lost 36 to 46. Harold Brown was high scorer with 13 points, Jimmy Wayland, 6, Jackie Sisk, 6, Bunny Pullen, 6, Strother Brown, 4 and Tony Lucas, 1.
The cheerleaders, Margy Dodson, Jean Cater, Peggy Clater, Frances Walker, and Elizabeth Verner were full of pep urging the team to win.
The girls beat. Aldie 43 to 22 on Tuesdays December 15. Jean Brown made 30 points, Faye* Black, 4, Betty Bruce, 2, Margaret Devers, 5, and Libby Hawkins, 2.
The boys lost by one point with Aldie. . Sonny Brown made 11 points, Bobby Atkins, 7, Jackie Sisk, 7, Strother Brown, 4, Bunny Pullen, 2, and Tony Lucas, 3.
