These last few days of sunshine have been like a reprieve. When you ^ think about it, we’re really lucky to live in a climate with so ..much variety. The change of seasons give you a taste of them all. When one is 5 wearing your patience thin, the other shtfws up. And it makes you appreciate seasons ... in the raging cold of winter, you love the blazing heat of summer, and in the summer you dream of those won^erfu^cold d#ys, „ _ you had in. the winter.
This is good news for the property owners of this end of the county: Friday night at 7:30 the Washington Fire Department will hold a special meeting to discuss the purchase of another piece of fire-fighting equipment. The local fire company feels that the homo owners in the Flint Hill, Huntly, Chester Gap area do not have the fire protection they are entitled to, and additional equipment will be oof great benefit to the entire community.

It is with 'sincere regret that we learn of the departure of Dr. Wake from our midst. During his stay in the county he and Mrs. Wake have made a host of friends, and Dr. Wake has built up quite a reputation as a veterinarian. We f hate to see them leave opr community, but we are glad to hear that “Doc” has landed such a fine position with the U. S. Dept, of Agriculture, Research B.ureau. .
