Supervisors Hold

February Meeting

A large delegation from the EstesCastleton section of Rappahannock County, appeared before the six supervisors in their February meeting, Wednesday morning, to^ register a complaint about the prevailing condition of the roads from Viewtown to Castleton and from Estes to Castleton. Resident Engineer P. B. Coldiron, explained that a plan had been proposed some time ago to hard surface these roads; however, due to lack of state funds appropriated for road repair, these plans have lain dormant for sometime. These secondary roads, he continued, will be cared for in case of snow, etc., as soon as the primary roads are satisfactorily cleared, As soon as the necessary_ funds are available, the other plans will be carried out.

Five sheep claims were brought before the board and acknowledged: W. A. Long, Jr., $20; Miss Virginia Tapp, $10; C. R. Wire, $20; Roland Welch, $36; Miss Florence Settle, $40; and Nish North, $17.50. •

Mrs. Elizabeth Buntin and Mrs. C. E Johnson Jr. presented the budget for the Rappahannock Welfare Department for the coming fiscal year.

The budget was discussed among the members and a motion was made and carried that the proposed budget be accepted.

The Board oi Supervisors agreed to pay half of the cost of building a fence from the Health Department office (the Moffett office) to the Gyde Baggarly line of property. The other half of the expenses was to be carried by the town of Washington. : A proposal was made and agreed Upon that the Board go on record* of opposing examination for renewal of driving permit after 65 years, unless required by a physician. (As the rule is now, one pass 65 must take an examination every year to renew his driving certificate. By the supervisors' agreement, this would be eliminated unless a physician so required).
