This week I received a card from a subscriber in Washington, D.C. stating that her paper did not reach her as soon as she had been receiving it previously.
The paper goes in the post office at the same time that it has ever since we have been publishing it. Of course for several years we had an efficient post office department in Washington, D.C., and mail was delivered fairly regular. But, for the past few months with the new regime, mail may go anywhere before it is delivered to addressee. Only this week we received a letter from Richmond with a stamp on it stating: “missent to Arlington, Va.”, and another one postmarked from Culpeper stamped thus: “missent to Brightwood, Va.” So. Dear Subscriber please bear with us for a while and maybe in a few years we will make another change in Washington, D.C., and be able to get our mail on time.

Last week’s question was answered by Miss Dorothy Thompson of Sperryville, who phoned in the correct answer around 1 o’clock Thursday evening. “The common plant known as the dandelion received its name from the fact that the jagged edges of its leaves are popularly fancied to resemble the teeth of the lion. Dandelion is a sixteenth century English corruption of the French dent de lion, literally "lion's tooth,” the name the plant bears in several European languages. The dandelion was introduced into the U. S. from Europe Irs roots, like those of chicory, are sometimes used as a substitute for coffee*.

The members of the Rescue Squad are determined to have oxygen equipment in the rescue car. During their three-week campaign for contributions a little over $300 has been realized.
