Friday night, a large delegation from the Flint Hill-Huntly area appeared before a called meeting of the Washington Fire Company, to request more adequate fire protection for their communities. The called meeting was for the purpose of discussing the purchasing of a new fire truck.
After the delegation, consisting of at least 50 persons, presented their case to the company, an idea was brought forward: “The Flint HillHuntly gfotip should join hands with the Washington Firemen and form one large organization. The Washington Fire Company would purchase the truck under discussion and place it in the Flint Hill .community. The Flint Hill Firemen would be responsible for buying hose and other necessities to ready the truck. Flint Hill would appoint an assistant Chief. Though operated by the Flint Hill firemen the truck would remain the property of the Washington Fire Company.
This would insure both the Flint Hill and the Washington communities of double protection. One truck could be relied on to back the other,, in case of fire in either area.
The group elected a committee to buy the fire truck, and adjourned to make their separate plans. Each would have a meeting in their individual community and then, in a joint meeting later, offer their acceptance or rejection of the proposed plan.

Mrs. Robert L. Massie and Mrs. M. R. Bradford Jr., were joint hostesses at a miscellaneous shower given in honor of Miss Mary Massie Lea, at Cab Inn, Friday evening at eight o’clock. Miss Lea opened her numerous and lovely gifts, seated at a large table which was draped with a delicate white lace cloth and decorated with snapdragons and chrysanthemums. Above the table was suspended a large red umbrella with small package, as raindrops, falling from its sides.
SHEN-VALLEY MEETING FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 All livestock producers in the county are invited to attend the ShenValley Meat Packers annual county meeting in the court house in Washington at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 12.
