mg contest at Warrenton this year. For this honor he has won an expense paid trip to Staunton for two days schooling and participation in the state contest. i
In 1951# Jackie started with a purebred Poland China Gilt in the Sears, Roebuck pig chain. The next year he was awarded first prize of $60.00 for doing the best job of caring for his sow and litter. This prize money was used to purchase a Holstein Heifer which widened his experience In livestock.
He has cared for 100 hens for several years and the profit they, have shown is a good indication that Jackie has -learned something about poultry. Raising corn helped him to get a better idea of live-v stock production. --- Jackie has completed 10 projects in his 4-H work. Not only have his livestock numbers been on ,the increase but the quality of his animals as well. His records show a net profit of $512.60 on his - projects along with $112.00 in prize money. Besides being a member of the team that represented the county in the sheep shearing contest Jackie is also a member of the Rappahannock Livestock Judging i teams. The team trained at the school in Madison, at Front Royal, and worked out on herds in the county in preparation for the contest in Staunton. > To quote Jackie—"I have enjoyed my 4-H work so far and will continue to be a member as long as | can.
