A Surprise picnic was given Sunday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Griffith in honor of IVIiss Patricia Bruce of North Carolina. Guests included Mrs. Annie T. Bruce, Mr. and Mrs., Bennie Bruce of Front Royal, Mrs and Mrs. Roy Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Moore and house guests, Charles Moore and family of New York, Dorothy Ann and Lewis Jr.

Savings Bond Chairman J. Rodes Brown for Rappahannock, County reports total sales of $31,525 during the first half -year toward a 1954 quota of $55,000. Thus, with half the time elapsed *57% of the quota has been met.

Robert Elkins was injured in an accident Saturday when the truck he was driving turned over three times down a steep embankment near Howellsville.
Irvin Williams, who underwent a major operation at Warren, Memorial Hospital, is improving. He will, however, remain in the; hospital for some time for further treatment and several more operations.
