Thirty-eight youths and young people of the county, including 30 from Sperryville, Woodville and vicinity and eight from Washington and vicinity are attending regularly the swimming classes being conducted at Old Hollow this; week by instructor Miss Mary Martha Korte of Culpeper.
A certified Red Cross swimming instructor, Miss Korte is^ quickly winning the admiration and respect of her pupils and their, parents, with her pleasing personality and her teaching technic.
Several parents are taking turns at staying during lessons to assist Miss Korte, if she would need their help. An interesting observation made by several parents is that in 1952 when the classes were first organized the majority of tlie students were in the beginners _ class or else the non-swimmers classes. This year the beginners, class is quite small. And all of the original beginners are now swimming with the greatest of ease and cPnfidence. These advanced groups are working to improve their technique and to learn all of the main strokes and kicks. It is very evident' that the past two years of classes have helped the students.
