1954 Christmas Seal Sale /Campaign officially opened in Vir/ ginia, Monday, November 22. To r launch this year’s sale of Christmas Seals, Governor Thomas B. Stanley stated on a Statewide program presented by local tuberculosis associations throughout -Virginia: “As long as I can remember, Christmas Seals have been a part of Christmas for me and my family, but this year the Sale has a new and greater significance. . . Tuberculosis is one of the principal health problems, yet I believe sincerely that we now have within our grasp the means for removing this hazard from our midst. While we take pride in the tremendous strides we have made against the disease, we should all realize this gives us no room for complacency. Hundreds of Virginians still die each year".". .
