Sampson Air Force Base, N.Y.— Airman Basic Temple E. Ficklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Ficklin, RFD 1, Amissville, is undergoing basic military training at Sampson. He enlisted September 9, 1954, and is a member of the 3782th flight here since the base’s activation in December, 1950. "

Newly-enlisted airmen arrive _here from many sections of the United States to receive their initial Air Force indoctrination. They become members of a “flight”, composed of 72 men— generally from the same region, and receive an intensified 11-week — training course which deals with _basiclmilitary techniques and principles.

Upon graduation they are assigned directly to an Air Force installation, or report to various Air Force Training Command schools for primary and advanced technical knowledge.

Sampson is one of three Air Force indoctrination centers. Others are located at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, and Park AFB, Pleasanton, California More than 40 per-cent of all Air \ Force enlistees receive their initial training at Sampson.

The First Baptist Church of Washington holds its regular church meetings Saturday night, December 4 before the first Sunday. We are urging all members to please be present for this last meeting of the year. Business of importance to be taken care of. Election of officers, planning for Christmas program and programs for the ingoing year. Please all members be present at this church meeting.
