Mr. Towson E. Smith had some prize winners in the fruit department of the state fair at Richmond. He took fourth prize for Pippins and third for Bonums.
The following automobile parties went to the Hagerstown Fair from this county. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Massie and Mrs. Catherine Fletcher and Mr. F. C. Baggarly. Mr. Jas. H. Fletcher with Mr. and Mrs. Rapley Shackleford and Miss Lyle Dulaney; Mr. D. B. Foltz with Messrs. L. H. Dudley, Henry Miller and Jas. Young. Messrs. Edward Cary, C. H. Huff, J. E. Thornton, Finley Rowles, Clarence Oden and C. J. Miller, Jr., are also attending the Fair.
Mr. P. E. Chelf left Saturday morning on his vacation, which will be spent in Front Royal and Baltimore. Mr. Chelf took with him a large ham so as to be prepared for hunger or a shortness of funds. His place as steward of the Flint Hill Commercial Club and as baby member of the Royal Family will be hard to fill.
Miss Carroll Settle, who is teaching at Hume, spent Saturday and Sunday at home.
Miss Elizabeth Hand of Woodville is visiting the Misses Eastham of Mountain View.
