Fisherman was beginning to think that Caesarean was in order until t night of June 9th his golden veiltail guppy gave birth to fifty (50 fry. (The young are referred to fry.)
The golden veil-tail guppy one of many strains of the gupp; family. Scientifically they ar known as Lebistes reticulatus, pronounced le-bis-tees re'-tick-you-latus. This colorful little tropical fish is one of the best for home aquariums because of his hardiness and the ease with which it can be raised. The guppy is from the class of fish known as live-bearers which refers to giving birth to live young rather than by laying eggs as most fish do. There are many varieties and strains of guppies, several of which can be seen in Fisherman Settle’s Aquarium—the golden veil-tail; grey veil-tail; common grey; and the grey veiltail sword tail.
