At the aifoual membership meeting of the Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance; Company, held in Washington opf Saturday, January , 14, the resignation of the president, L. R. Hudson, prominenf. business man of Rappahannock and Culpeper counties, was accepted with regTet, Mr. Hudson was iSrrsuaded to remain a director in the company, and the membership passed a resolution Commending him for his fine work as president.
Mr. Hudson has been a director of the company for more than 40 years. In 1945 he was elected president, to succeed the late Wade H. Massie, and he has held this position until his resignation During these years, it was pointed out that a great deal of progress has been made. The company now has 530 members, an insurance business of 3% million dollars on property in Rappahannock coun,ty, and still offers the lowest rates in the state.
Out of 530 members, 463 were present or represented by proxy at this meeting. The following directors were chosen : C E. JobnsonJrvW. H. Massie,Jr. D. D. Miller, J. P. Cook, R. L. Hudson, R. E. Miller. In addition to electing Mr. Massie president, those present elected C. E. Johnson, Jr. vice-, president and C. J. Miller, Jr. secretary -treasurer.
The Board of Directors voted to donate $200.00 to each of die four fire departments fn the county, in recognition of their outstanding work in their respective communities.
