Held Thursday For
Lewis John Turner
A funeral service was held Thursday, January 12, for Lewis John Turner, Washington, who died Wednesday, following an illness of six months duration. A prominent fanner and apple broker; Mr. Turner had served as County Agent in Orange, Princess Anne and Rappahannock counties. He was a 1930 graduate of V.P.I., and was married in 1934 to the former Jessie Millet* Jones, of Washington, who survives.
Mr. Turner was born November 3, 1904 at Chase City, Virginia, a son of Lewis Gibbs Turner and the late Carrie Downey Turner.
Services were conducted from die home in Washington by Rev. A. D. Goodson, Rev. John Divers and Rev. John Frizzell, Jr. Interment followed in Washington Masonic cemetery. Active pallbearers were William Cannon, George Jenkins, James Fletcher, Downing Wood, C. J. Miller, Maurice O’Ban non, W. G Campbell and T. G Lea.
Besides his wife and father his survivors include a son, Lewis John Turner, Jr.; a daughter, .Carolyn Gates Turner, five brothers, Dr. J. H. Turner of South Hill; W. A. Turner, of Blacksburg ; G G. Turner of Arlington; Rev. A. V. Turner of Jarrett; O. D. Turner of Burtonsville, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Gordon Hanna of Holland, Va., and eleven nieces and nephew*.
