Have Busy Week End
On Sunday January 8th on ■ hurried telephone report from an unknown'feminine voice that there was “a small house on fire down the road on Highway 21 f”, the Amissville Volunteer Fire Depart-;* =jnent with its two trucks and many members in personal cars used their ■> time and gasoline covering upwards of twenty miles of the high* ' way needlessly. Whether this was a deliberate > false alarm has not yet been established; however no further knowledge of any such fire has as yeti come to the„attention of the Department. ]
The Department answered an-, other call for a serious flue fire, at the home of John Boldridge-on Thursday evening January 12. 1 Damage was not extensive thanks to the prompt and effective work of the Volunteers.
Saturday was a busy day For die Ejepartment, being first called to a serious field and brush f'1* on the property of Robert B. Settle. *ITie combined efforts of the Amiss-" ville, Culpeper, and Warrenton Departments finally brought the blaze, admittedly Started by a t careless hunter, under control. .
About sundown the same day, .the Department was ag^ia-callM ~ to assist the .Culpeper Rescue Squad in the search for a small Cunningham boy of Jeffersonton, who was believed lost in tbe woods ‘ West of Highway 229 at Newmans store.
