Leads In Contest
Excitement is mounting by the minute as the Amissville Fire Company and Auxiliary prepare for the big carnival, which will be held on August 23, 24, and 25.
Crowning the Queen will be Thursday night and the big parade Friday night.
Everyone around is busy preparing for the first night of the carnival and for the next two nights as well.
There has been a great deal of rivalry among the candidates fcr the honor <of Queen. Standings of the contest to dale are's* follows?

In Honor Of
Rev. A. P. Thompson
The members of Reynolds Memorial Church and the F. T. Baptist Church are giving a reception tonight (Thursday, August 16) at 7:30 p.m., at Reynolds Memorial Church, Sperryville, Va., for the Rev. A. Paul Thompson and Mrs. Thompson, who are leaving September 1st for Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, Va., where Rev. Thompson has accepted a teaching position.
The public is invited.
