Prayer-Vigil Begins
At Noon, Angnst 18th
The Virginia Conference of the Methodist is now in progress of holding throughout Virginia a Prayer Vigil. The Charlottesville District s responsible for the period from Noon Aug. 18th to Noon Aug. 31st. All of the churches of the district are helping to carry out , this Vigil and we have been assigned the hours from 4:00 P. M. to Midnight on Saturday, Aug. 25th. To my knowledge this prayer vigil has not been broken since it started on October 2nd; in Danville when Bishop Garber started it and we certainly do not want to break it now.
Each church has been assigned two hours of this vigil as follows:
Willis Chapel, 4:00 to 6:00 P. M. Sperryville, 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. Washington, 8:00 to 10:00 P. M. and Flint Hill, 10:00 to Midnight.
It is hoped that every person of every faith in the comhnmity where this is being held will go to the church sometme during the two hour period and that they will spend some time at the altar in the spirit of prayer. Every person in every church is asked to do all in their power to not only be there for prayer, but get several of their friends to be there also. Do not let one minute during the two hours* pass without someone at the altar in prayer. It is suggested that arrangements be made in the churches for lighted candles and soft organ music where this is possible. We ask that the different W.S.C.S. and M.Y.F. groups try to take a definate period of time their church has been allotted.
